Welcome to EG arquitectura urbana.
Toyo Ito once said that “architecture is not much more than a tree”,
surely remembering our own Antonio Gaudí, who stated that “that tree there is my mentor”.
Mies van der Rohe was convinced that “less is more”,
and Alberto Campo Baeza added that “light is more”.
Manuel de Solà-Morales wondered “should urbanism be understood as a way of ‘educating’ people?”.
Ricardo Legorreta would have agreed, since he believed that “a city is like a human being”.
Perhaps Carlos Raúl Villanueva summarises all these thoughts; he believed that “architecture is a social act par excellence,
a utilitarian art, like a projection of life itself, connected to social and economic issues, and not merely to aesthetic norms (…)”.
And thought that “the architect must be a humanist”.
Aphorisms such as these move us to perform the work of architecture, urban planning and design with curiosity, that curiosity which helps us understand what our contribution to society must be.
This is what we are working on...
EG arquitectura urbana is a team of young professionals that specialises in architecture, design and urban planning. We are passionate about the idea of facing, every day, the challenge to analyze and solve each project in a particular and suitable way depending on its circumstances, without forgetting design, sustainability, efficiency and functionality, which are the foundations of our work. This is our philosophy.
In the field of architecture, we conceive each project as a series of decisions that, based on a thorough analysis of the context, programmatic needs, urban constraints and technical requirements, result in a building that is beautiful, fully functional, sustainable and integrated into the setting that serves as support and for which it must interact. In the field of design, our aim is to reflect and reinforce the identity of people, spaces and businesses. And lastly, from our knowledge and experience in the field of urban planning, we seek to support the relationship between places and activities, source of interesting urban and territorial proposals. We are convinced that all the above points are closely interrelated, and that an optimal final result can only be obtained through the balanced and combined application of all of them together.
Our enthusiastic team is led by Antonia Bocanegra Iglesias, senior architect and urban planner, urban planning technician (advanced course in territorial studies and urban planning), who holds a master in territorial planning, urban development and the property market, and Juan Luis Bocanegra Iglesias, senior architectural technician who holds a degree in science and technology of construction and a master in structures. They collaborate with José Manuel García Hiraldo, industrial engineer, Miguel Valle Valle, a technical engineer who holds a degree in telecommunications, Francisco Germán Fuentes Bocanegra, certified technician specialising in urban planning and topographical surveys, Sergio Gutiérrez Camarena, archaeologist with a degree in geography and history, and Francisco Roldán Salas, veterinarian. They also work with London based practice MRG Studioon landscape projects, and Manuel Ignacio Rubio Díaz on the design of buildings with timbrel vaults.
